The Chrysanthus was a scarlet flower, that was the symbol of the Imperial Fortress World Cadia.[1a]
Description
It was known as the Flower of Cadia and would blossom in the spring, which caused the hearty Chrysanthus to release their feathery seed-pods into the Fortress World's wind currents. The patriotic song Flower of Cadia was named after it,[1a] and both played a part in maintaining the Fortress World's morale during the 13th Black Crusade.[1b] It was also used as the code word Lord Castellan Ursarkar E. Creed would send out, if the Imperium had to evacuate Cadia. This later occurred, after the Fortress World was dealt a death blow by Abaddon the Despoiler, and it is not known if any of the Chrysanthus survived Cadia's destruction.[1c]
