- Cicario[1b]

Cicario is a Techmarine of the Ultramarines Chapter who once served in the Deathwatch.[1b]

History

Cicario[1b]

He is the perfect example of a Techmarine and will carry out calculations before a battle to predict the optimal route to success. Once this is obtained, Cicario will execute his plan with cold efficiency and will not care for any non-Ultramarines losses that occur carrying it out. The only concession of his Humanity that remains is Cicario's boundless curiosity towards the unknown. This is particularity true when it comes to technology; the Techmarine is an ally to several Tech-Priests of the Forge World Stygies VIII. All of these attributes remained true even when Cicario served in the Deathwatch for several decades.[1b]

This was apparent when the Techmarine led a joint Deathwatch and Astra Militarum operation to secure a wrecked Xenarite vessel. It was an important prize for an Adeptus Mechanicus Adept, but the vessel was highly defended. Despite knowing this, Cicario coldly ordered the operation's Guardsmen to charge the vessel alone. This was so the Techmarine could calculate the amount of firepower their foes had and once this was done, Cicario finally ordered the Deathwatch to act. After the vessel was seized, the Techmarine and his Stygies VIII allies quickly ransacked it for data and samples. But while Cicario had claimed the mission had been given to him by an Ordo Xenos Inquisitor Lord, the Astra Militarum was never able to verify this. His service with the Deathwatch does seem to have had an impact on the Techmarine and this was noticed by the Ultramarines when Cicario returned to the Chapter. They have now come to think of the Techmarine as being more machine than man.[1b]

Cicario now serves in an Indomitus Crusade Fleet[1b] and has aided it in reclaiming many of the Imperium's lost worlds. However, his service was nearly ended when the fleet was ambushed by the Prophet's Black Legion warband. This left its Space Marine Commander with no choice but to order the fleet's warships to escape into the Warp. Despite doing so, however, the Sorcerer Lord tracked them within the Warp and launched an attack on the Commander's Battle Barge flagship. But as his forces fought the Imperials, the Prophet began secretly summoning Daemons within the Battle Barge. They materialised throughout the flagship and once he was done, the Sorcerer Lord ordered his warband to withdraw. Shortly afterwards, the Daemons caused catastrophic damage to the Battle Barge and the Commander enacted an emergency exit from the Warp.[1a]

While the Crusade Fleet survived doing so, it was left scattered within a sector of the Imperium Nihilus.[1a] The Commander then began regrouping his forces and as he did so,[1c] he learned that that very same sector was now being invaded by the Prophet. The Commander then led Cicario and the rest of his forces against the Sorcerer Lord's warband, in order to save the sector's worlds.[1d] Thanks to the Commander's leadership, the fleet was able to foil[1f] the Prophet's plot to pull the sector into the Warp,[1e] though the Sorcerer Lord escaped before the Imperials could kill him.[1f] The vengeful Prophet then sought to free the imprisoned Daemon Prince Halphas, so that he could destroy the fleet and its Commander.[1g] However, despite succeeding in doing so, the Imperials defeated the Daemon Prince. Afterwards, the Commander confronted the Prophet and once again defeated the Sorcerer Lord.[1h]
