Biology and Use
Cisors are roughly fist-sized black beetle-like alien life forms.[1a] They attack with razor sharp exposed mandibles, which can rip into Carapace Armour and chew through it like it is tissue paper.[1a][2a]
They can be held and used as a weapon. When held, they wriggle and their mandibles thrash and saw, making a chattering, chittering, or cluttering sound.[2a] They can also be used as a torture device, and can kill Humans.[1a][2a][2b][2c]
They are known to sleep when not in use, and can be woken up by the warmth of a Human hand picking them up.[2a] They have been known to eat carpets.[1a]
History
In 402.M41, after escaping from death-row incarceration on Hesperus, criminal Armand Wessaen kept a cisor in the pocket of his lizard-skin coat. When bounty hunter Lucius Worna caught up with him, Wessaen woke his cisor and wielded it in one hand while using a graft blade in the other, using it to chew through Worna's Carapace Armour. When Worna managed to break Wessaen's arm, the cisor fell on the floor and began to eat the carpet. After defeating Wessaen, Worna picked the cisor up from the floor and used it on Wessaen, killing him.[2a][2c]
Lucius Worna kept the cisor, and in 403.M41 threatened to use it on shipmaster Sholto Unwerth of the Arethusa to get him to say where Captain Kizary Thekla, his ship the Oktober Country, and Inquisitor Ravenor were. Unwerth had initially refused to tell them anything, but once he was threatened with the cisor Unwerth told Worna what he knew, despite not knowing what the cisor was. Worna tortured Unwerth anyway.[2b]
