Conclave of Celestial Guardians
The Conclave of Celestial Guardians is a group of 25 Necron Crypteks from the Oruscar Dynasty, who protect and watch over the Celestial Orrery.[1]
History
Based on the Tomb World Thanatos, the Conclave is currently led by the Chief Technomancer Dzukar, with the rest of its members being his chosen disciples. As the guardians of the Orrery, Dzukar will draw upon the networked computational power of the Conclave members' neural spools to determine the best way to do so. This includes directing Oruscar's forces to defend it, though the Conclave will also personally fight to do so as well. Their main objective, however, is to simply observe the Orrery and let nature take its course no matter what they observe occurring. Not only because the Conclave does not believe it is their place to intervene, but also that doing so could have dire unforeseen consequences for the Galaxy, due to the Celestial Orrery's powers.[1]
Currently, most of the Conclave's time is spent defending Thanatos from attacks from the Kardenath Dynasty. Led by the Phaeron Akanabekh, the Kardenath seek to use the Celestial Orrery to destroy all life within the Galaxy. Trazyn the Infinite is also a threat, but one the Conclave has managed to fend off before. However, after the Bell of Saint Gerstahl rang, Overlord sought out the Orrery so he could observe the Galaxy, as the Bell's ringing prophesied the beginning of a Black Crusade. In order to do this, Trazyn made a deal with Akanabekh that would benefit both. In return for ordering his forces to make a frenzied attack on the walls defending the Orrery, Trazyn would sneak into the Conclave's chambers with the Phaeron hidden within a Tesseract Labyrinth. The Overlord would then unleash Akanabekh, so that he could finally seize the Orrery after Trazyn made use of it. While the Phaeron kept his end of the bargain, the Overlord would not do so.[1]
This was after the Conclave gave into Trazyn's demands to use the Orrery, after he threatened to unleash Akanabekh from the Labyrinth and the Overlord's own personal Deathmark, aimed its Synaptic Disintegrator at Dzukar. Doing so, allowed Trazyn to see the coming Thirteenth Black Crusade and its attack on Cadia, as well as Abaddon the Despoiler's efforts to create the Great Rift. He also realized that the Conclave had seen the buildup to create the giant Warp Storm, but had chosen not to do anything about it or even give warning to their fellow Necrons. This caused the Chief Technomancer to state the Conclave's mission to simply observe the Orrery without interfering in anything it shows. Trazyn then delivered a powerful punch to Dzukar's face for his foolishness and then left to defend Cadia and prevent the Great Rift's creation.[1]
