The Consortia was an anti-Imperial government on the planet Hyades. It supported an egalitarian ideology and secession from the Imperium.[1a]

History

The Consortia emerged on the planet Hyades in response to the locals' poor living conditions. It opposed the absolute monarchy of the Imperial Governor Ilsetza IV, and declared that the Emperor of Mankind had only ever taken from the planet without ever caring about its people. The rebels quickly rallied a large part of the planetary population to their cause, leading to a major civil war.[1a][1b]

As the Great Rift emerged and stranded Hyades in the Imperium Nihilus, no Imperial reinforcements arrived. The Consortia conquered much of the planet, including the vital agri-domes of the southern pole.[1a][1b] Eventually, the separatists controlled about half of Hyades' population. The civil war between the Consortia and the Imperial loyalists was mercilessly persecuted, as the latter executed all captured Consortia supporters including civilians, regardless of age.[1a]

However, the rebel government ended when a group of Grey Knights came to Hyades and inspired a genocidal offensive by the loyalists. In a series of surgical strikes, the Space Marines also systematically murdered the Consortia's leaders.[1a] In truth, however, this conflict's extreme brutality was actually designed to lure Angron to Hyades to trap him; the Consortia's bloody fall thus heralded the entire planet's destruction.[1a][1c]

Territory

Before the Grey Knights' arrival, the Consortia controlled the cities of Banhar, Kwat, Sharaad, and Qasfan. The separatists' capital was Banhar, whereas their military was concentrated at Kwat.[1a]
