Cyprian's Gate is a Paradise World in the Calixis Sector,[1][2] inhabited natively and predominately by Ratlings. The Militarum Auxilla regiments known as the Cyprian Huntsmen are recruited from this world.[3]
History
The world that would be known as Cyprian's Gate was rediscovered by the Imperium late into the Angevin Crusade by a Crusade fleet having trouble traversing the Hazeroth Abyss. Once the Adeptus Mechanicus and Adeptus Administratum conducted purity checks under the watchful eye of the Inquisition and confirmed the genetic stability of the abhuman population, they were classified as Homo sapiens minimus.[3]
The nobility of the Calixis Sector quickly claimed the world as their personal playground, much to the dismay of the native population. Entire forests and settlements were destroyed to build the pleasure palaces of the nobility. This would spark a resistance movement amongst some of the Ratlings. Lead by Ruk Olverpot and his merry band, they raided and sabotaged various construction sites and the nobles' temporary encampments. Construction materials were destroyed, edifices knocked down, and supplies stolen. Swift and covert, Olverpot and his freedom fighters made use of hit and run tactics, attacking from unexpected angles before disappearing back into the deep forests, much to the frustration of the Imperials.[3]
Eventually, the Administratum-designated prefect, Lord Grigory Silverholm — ruling until a permanent governor could be installed — offered an ultimatum to the native population: deliver Olverpot and his band to justice or be found guilty of aiding and abetting his crimes. Although pained to do so, many Ratlings saw the futility of Olverpot's resistance and took steps to deliver him and his band to Silverholm's security forces. Olverpot and his freedom fighters were executed for their actions, making them martyrs to the cause. To this day, many Ratling communities hold celebrations in Olverpot's name, despite Imperial crackdowns.[3]
