Darkmont is a Mountain World of the Imperium.[1] It is known to raise Imperial Guard Regiments known as the Darkmontan Mountaineers.[2b]
History
In the Age of the Dark Imperium, Darkmont became a battle site of the Octarius War for the Orks and Genestealer Cults.[1] The planet was also defended by the forces of the Astra Militarum: both native Darkmontan Mountaineers and offworld regiments, including the Kusolst Prime Cannonors and Tangar Woad Warriors.[2b]
The Madboyz of Da Madeyes mob were among the Orks taking part in the battle and a vision they received drove them into the Spine, Darkmont's most formidable mountain range. Though no one knows what ultimately happened to them, Da Madeyes wreaked havoc on the Genestealer Cults that resided in the Spine. So much so, that when the Warboss Kagrit led his Orks into the mountain range, he destroyed what remained of the Cults. Afterwards, Kagrit carved great effigies to the Orks' Gods, Gork and Mork, out of the Spine's tallest mountain peaks.[1]
