Datafax
From Warhammer 40k - Lexicanum
Datafaxes served as datasheets for various units, primarily vehicles, structures, aircraft, and Titans. They were used predominantly in 2nd Edition. The details of each datafax included a units armament, movement (if applicable), defensive capabilities, crew component, and points value for the unit and any upgrade purchases. They typically included armour values and hit location tables, including the results of damage to these components during a game.[1]
Datafaxes were provided with the release of new units, often on White Dwarf magazine and other supplements such as The Citadel Journal, Inquisitor Magazine, or as part of various Box Sets.
Trivia
- In earlier editions of both Warhammer 40,000 and its prototype games, such as Space Crusade, efforts were made to made to provide unit statistics and data in the form of cards. Some of the earliest ones include a data card on the Space Marine Librarian in White Dwarf 145 (UK)[2]
