Third War for Armageddon
The Deadlands were seen by the Orks as a staging post for invading various Hives, including Hive Helsreach, whereas Imperial strategists would have, if they were invading, secured the lightly controlled area in order to cut off much of the fresh water supplies travelling to Armageddon Secundus. The region was assaulted by Gorsnik Magash, the Over-Fiend of Octarius and he had vast amounts of troops under his command for such a small area, although they were mostly destined for the gigatanker submersibles which would be used to invade Hive Helsreach. He kept his troops on a tight leash, aside for the White Lightning Speed Freeks, which went around to almost every installation in the region, but each time not being highly successful. They were decisively beaten at the battle of Dante's Canyon by a single Brotherhood of White Scars. Gorsnik was not fazed as he embarked for Helsreach, but he did leave behind a demoralised force.[4]
The White Scars Tulwar Brotherhood were led by Suboden Khan but were still outnumbered badly, even after most of the forces left for Hive Helsreach. He managed to even the odds by drawing out the Speed Freaks and plunging into the depths of the Deadlands. For four weeks the Orks chased the White Scars and eventually they escaped, with the Speed Freaks five days behind them. With this time the White Scars managed to cripple several of the submersible shipyards, damaging many vessels and preventing any others from leaving to reinforce any attack on Hive Helsreach.[4]
The Orks were demoralised, even more so when the White Lightning Speed Freeks finally made it back and brawling broke out quickly with no real leader among the group. Suboden then had the technicians at the Zebra Ice Station fit bombs to the side cars of Attack Bikes and launched them at the giant Roks while the second marine jumped onto the bike and sped off. The White Lightnings mounted some defence which collapsed soon after Suboden himself attached some Melta Bombs to the Bosswagon.[4]
Three days before Ghazghkull Thraka was said to have left the planet, the Deadlands were reported to be secure. The Tulwar Brotherhood received a new battle honour for their part played in the battles.[4]
Results[4]
The results show the Imperium held a lot of the structures, mainly due to the efforts of the White Scars.[4]
