The Dispensatus Anathema is an Imperial law that was created in M42 which officially restored the Sisters of Silence into the hierarchy of the Imperium.[1b]

History

Before then, the Sisters were a scattered exiled order. Each separate group, tried to secretly conduct the same duties they had before[1b] the Sisters were cast down in the aftermath of the Horus Heresy[1a]. They did so on their own, though, with no help from the Imperium and at the risk of being executed for being "witches". However when the reborn Primarch Guilliman became Lord Commander, he moved to change the Sisters' status. Having remembered how their abilities as Blanks greatly aided the Imperium, during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy, Guilliman created the Dispensatus Anathema. It officially restored the Sisters of Silence into the hierarchy of the Imperium and they now answered to no one but the Emperor. The law gave them access to the Imperium's full support and the Sisters were allowed to begin freely recruiting new Blanks and create new Vigils. In the new era the Great Rift created, the Lord Commander knew the Imperium would need the Sisters' skills now more than ever. The Dispensatus Anathema also had the benefit of making it harder, for their Imperial enemies to openly move against the Sisters.[1b]
