Dulma'lin is a world of the Imperium that lies in the western Ultima Segmentum near the planets Catachan and Ryza.[1c] It is known to raise regiments for the Astra Militarum.[1a]
History
In response to the threat posed by the Orks of Waaagh! Grax, in particular its invasion of the Ryza System in 925.M41, all Imperial worlds within 10 light years, including Dulma'lin, were required to raise additional Astra Militarum regiments to combat the xenos. In Dulma'lin's case, the government were forced to draft 80% of their world's populace in order to meet the tithe requirements.[1a]
The Dulma'lin Cleansing
This left Dulma'lin vulnerable to invasion, however. In 926.M41 a number of Astra Militarum regiments were charged with cleansing the planet of invading Orks. However, only the Catachan II regiment under Colonel Straken survived making planetfall on Dulma'lin to fight the Orks. Straken and his men waged a brutal guerrilla war against the invading xenos for a whole year, eventually managing to locate and destroy the Orks' main city-base.[1b][2]
Two days later, Imperial reinforcements arrived led by High Praetor Osh'preen of Purbech. With the Orks now leaderless and reeling from the destruction of their city, they were wiped out within a week. In the aftermath of the war Osh'preen took sole credit for the Cleansing's success in his report to Segmentum Command; when they received his report, Osh'preen was made Governor of Dulma'lin. The Catachans, meanwhile, were hastily redeployed to the Ulani System.[1b][2]
Later Events
Over the next two years, Osh'preen proved himself a poor ruler. By 928.M41, a Slaaneshi Cult known as the Cult of Frantic Flensing had arisen on Dulma'lin, partly due to the High Praetor's deficiencies.[2]
The Astra Militarum was called on to provide assistance to Dulma'lin. The only regiment in a position to respond was the Catachan II. Unfortunately, due to communications failures, the regiment did not receive Dulma'lin's pleas for aid and the planet's government was overthrown.[2]
