During the Horus Heresy, Euesa's government declared in favour of Horus and his rebellion. This led Euesa to be invaded by an Imperial battlegroup, as the planet was judged to be a linchpin for control of the Vandreggan Sector.[1]
The Imperial forces were spearheaded by the Space Marines of the Raven Guard Legion, who quickly assaulted and pacified the city of Carlingia, allowing their Imperial Army support units to land en masse. Following this, Army regiments under the overall command of vice-Caesari Marcus Valerius of the Therion Cohort were deployed to take the major city of Milvian. This would neutralise the anti-air defences protecting the bunker which housed the planet's government and allow a Raven Guard strike force led by Commander Branne to eliminate the Traitor commanders on Euesa.[1]
Although an initial assault on Milvian was repelled, Valerius was able to regroup and attack a second time, breaking through the city's defences and forcing the inhabitants to surrender. Thanks to this, the Raven Guard were able to carry out their decapitation strike, eliminating the Traitor officers on Euesa. They found that an operative of the Alpha Legion had been coordinating the rebellion, but he committed suicide before they could capture him.[1]
