As over the years his order perused the "Bleed", the remnants of two centuries' worth of astropathic messages sent to Terra, he became obsessed with what he called the Pattern, a hidden message subconsciously scattered through the minds of countless Psykers.[1b] While some of his colleagues like Nemo Zhi-Meng considered this a waste of time, Evandras did gain some insight into the future, correctly interpreting that Magnus the Red would play a crucial role in events to come.[1c]
In the fallout of the Primarch's attempt to warn the Emperor of Mankind of Horus Lupercal's betrayal, Evandras had a breakthrough and had a glimpse into the Pattern, seeing different events of the millennia to come.[1d] Driven to despair by the revelation, he shot himself in the head after consigning it in his Oneirocritica.[1e]
