History
Members of the Fenrisian Kaerls were raised from those Fenrisians who failed trials to join the Space Wolves Legion or proved to be incompatible with their Gene-Seed. Despite this, they were still considered fearsome soldiers and shared the same warrior-culture as the Space Wolves. As Fenris was never a populous world, the Fenrisian Kaerls never grew beyond a handful of cohorts. However they were valued more highly by their parent Legion than many other similar units utilized by the rest of the Legiones Astartes.[3]
Their armour scheme was also used by Solar Auxilia Regiments raised from the Space Wolves' Fief Worlds. Regardless of their Homeworlds, the Kaerls' vehicles were marked with decorative motifs that were drawn from Fenris' culture and its veterans were inducted into the Aettguard. These Solar Auxillia were given the honour of protecting The Fang, which served as the Space Wolves' Fortress Monastery.[1]
