Gerad Ixion is the current Captain of the Ultramarines Chapter's 7th (Reserve) Company and Chief Victualler.[1]

He is both an old soldier and noble patrician hero, who has been made hard and cold by the galaxy's many horrors. To his Company, Ixion is also a stern and exacting taskmaster, who pushes those under his command to excel with their every breath and waking deed. The Captain recognizes that only through harsh discipline and nigh-unattainable standards, can he do his duty to his Emperor, his Primarch and the Battle-Brothers under his command.[1]

Biography

Shortly before the Siege of Zalathras, while Calgar was traveling around Ultramar, Captain Ixion and 7th company were holding position 4 light years from Prandium. Calgar wanted him and 7th company to stay at full readiness.[5a] During the siege the Librarian traveling with Calgar was able to make contact with 7th company and request their aid, Ixion then headed to Zalathras with the Andronicus fleet.[5b] When he arrived in system Ixion made contact with Calgar over Vox, and informed him they'd be ready to deploy planetside in 6 hours. Calgar ordered him to not start landings until Calgar told him, since he wanted to kill the head Ork and break the Waaagh. He also ordered Ixion to commit an Exterminatus if the city was lost to the Orks which Ixion agreed to.[5c]. After the head Ork was killed Ixion was ordered to deploy planetside.[5d]

Ixion was part of an Ultramarines force lead by Marneus Calgar to the Vortengard spiral. While en route Chief Librarian Tigurius forwarded them a message about a Tyranid attack at Styxia Prime. A meeting was called to decide what to do on the Octavius. During the meeting Cassius raised objections to the consensus that they don't need to intervene, Ixion suggested that Cassius's hatred of the Tyranids clouded his judgement, and he believed that they would be wasting their warriors lives for vanity. Calgar decided to have Cassius lead a task force to Styxia Prime while everyone else, including Ixion, was to continue to the Vortengard Spiral.[2]

In 999.M41 he attended the trial of Uriel Ventris.[4]

He is among the Pariah Crusade's forces fighting to defend the Imperial world Paradyce III from an invasion by the Necrons.[3]
