Gideon (Ultramarines)
Gideon is a grizzled Assault Intercessor Sergeant in the Ultramarines 2nd Company.[1]
History
In M42, his squadron was part of the strike force, led by Lieutenant Vincius, that was sent to destroy the Chaos Warlord Hargaal Xere, after he established a stronghold on Bakhar Prime. After they arrived in the Eastern Fringes' Bakhar Sector, though, Xere's forces began to attack worlds that were close by to Bakhar Prime. The strike force became stretched thin as a result, and later could only spare Gideon's squadron to answer a plea for aid from Zanzamon. When they arrived at the Industrial World, however, Gideon's squadron discovered it was being attacked by a small Necron force from the Szarekhan Dynasty.[1]
They soon learned, though, that Zanzamon was a Necron Tomb World and they faced just a vanguard, of the awakening legions beneath the world's surface. Gideon quickly requested aid to deal with this emerging threat, but due to its battles with Hargaal Xere, it would be weeks or months before the strike force's reinforcements arrived. Despite this setback and being heavily outnumbered, Gideon knew that his squadron had a unique opportunity to strike a telling blow for the Imperium. The Intercessors then fought to eliminate the awakened vanguard and discover a way into the Szarekhan Dynasty's tomb complex. If they succeeded, Gideon and his squadron could be able to destroy great swathes of the Dynasty's army, before the Necrons could rise up and claim Zanzamon.[1]
