The Gideon System is a small system located in the Eastern Fringe of the Ultima Segmentum, which consists of eight worlds that orbits a star similar to Sol (the star of Terra).[1]

History

It was once merely a footnote in the Adeptus Mechanicus' Explorator Fleet logs, as the Gideon System's worlds were fairly unremarkable and had no mineral wealth or strategic use for the Imperium. However, this all changed when Gideon IV was later found and was discovered to have vast mineral wealth and also the ruins of an ancient and dead civilisation. It is not known how the world was not detected in the initial exploration of the system, but many Imperials claim Gideon IV just appeared out of nowhere.[1]

With the discovery of a habitable world, rich with minerals and archeotech, the Gideon System was no longer a quiet and forgotten corner of the Galaxy. Once news of Gideon IV spread, the Imperium bestowed a new strategic value to the System and dispatched a small fleet to claim the world. However, they were not alone in doing so, as many other factions sought to do the same and soon the Battle for Gideon IV began.[1]
