Gladiator Cadre 331 is a warband of the World Eaters.[1]

History

The warband was formed following the aftermath of the Battle of Skalathrax. Unlike the red and brass adopted by most of their brethren, the Cadre wear the Legion's original white and blue livery. They honour Khorne through skill at arms, aiming to be the very best duelists. For them more than most, the fighting pits carry an unparalleled sense of honour. They see great honesty in the arena, where a warrior's strengths and weaknesses are bared for all to see. Angron's teachings on the rules and teachings of the arena resonate even more with these warriors, and in the Nucerian tradition they cut a mark upon their bodies before every duel beginning at the base of the spine. If victorious, a fighter will allow the corresponding wound to heal normally but will rub dirt into any cuts made after a defeat, causing it to heal black instead of red. The resulting scar tissue that coils around the warrior's body is known as the Triumph Rope.[2]

The warbands clinging to ancient ways has given them a level of discipline above most World Eaters warbands. They can avoid succumbing to the full madness of the Butcher's Nails, allowing them to surprise many foes with their level of order and coherency. Their leader, Kestus Thrax, believes the World Eaters can reunite under these doctrines.[2]

They are currently among the World Eaters warbands taking part in their Daemon Primarch Angron's Blood Wave.[1]
