Gore Mages were Khornate Rogue Psykers who served the Blood Pact Warband, during the Sabbat Worlds Crusade.[1]

Description

Despite the Chaos God's hatred of Psykers, Gore Mages worshiped him as the Brazen King and used blood to track the Blood Pact's enemies. However the Gore Mages would need to be relatively close to their target, in order to use their psychic powers. This involved having blood poured into a bowl carved from bone and then placing a black iron needle, with a stylized skull stamped onto its end, on top of the blood. The Gore Mages then empowered a ritual, that caused the needles to locate the enemy the Blood Pact wanted to find. When the needles pointed in a direction, they were perfectly still and the Gore Mages were able to determine where the target was located from this. They then relayed this information to the Blood Pact's forces hunting their foes. The needle would not sink, during this ritual, nor would the blood in the bowl clot. However if their target moved, then the iron needles would begin to twitch, as they lost contact. In order to rectify this, the Gore Mage would need to add more blood to the bowl, in order to find their targets' again. This blood mainly came from the Gore Mages and they carried a sharp blade in order to cut themselves when needed. As a result, the Gore Mages were covered in scars, though not all were from empowering the ritual. Sometimes the Brazen King would grant the Gore Mages visions, if they allowed their blood to continually flow over their eyes.[1]
