Gorley
Gorley was a Sergeant of the Tanith First and Only, commanding the regiment's fifth platoon.[1]
Biography
Gorley and Five Platoon were present on Oskray Island when the forces of the Sabbat Worlds Crusade invaded the planet Sapiencia. He and Sergeant Varl's platoons were some of the first infantry to hit the beaches of Oskray when the Imperial assault faltered, as a number of the Basilisks that were going to be used to breach the sea walls on the island were dropped in the Bay of Belano short of their target and were rendered inoperable by the seawater.[1]
Eventually one of the Imperial troop-ships crashed through the wall after being shot down by enemy fire. This created an opening, but it still wasn't wide enough to bring heavy armour through and the island's defenders quickly had the breach covered. Nonetheless it allowed the remaining Basilisks to form up on the beach and attempt to widen the gap. Trooper Domor, however, spotted a passage running through the upper wall that had been split open. Trooper Caffran suggested that a fire-team of Tanith could scale the wall and get inside the tunnel, using it to infiltrate the island's hive complex. Gorley volunteered to lead the fire-team while Varl (who was unable to make the climb) brought injured troopers back down the beach to safety. A number of troopers successfully made it inside the wall but unfortunately Gorley, who had waited until last to make the climb, was too slow and ended up being caught in the friendly artillery barrage trying to widen the gap in the wall and was blown to smithereens.[1]
