Grimnir Blackblood was the Huscarl of the Einherjar, the Wolf Guard to the Primarch Leman Russ of the Space Wolves Legion during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy.[1]
Biography
Grimnir Blackblood was the Huscarl of the Einherjar and a close advisor to Leman Russ by the time of the Dulan Campaign in 870.M30.[2a] He fought at the primarch's side with the seventy warriors of the Einherjar, wielding a great maul.[2b]
Grimnir lost an eye at some point prior to the Battle of the Alaxxes Nebula in 007.M31, during which he refused to allow Lord Gunn to take command of the fleet in Russ' absence.[1] He later fought alongside Russ during the Battle of Trisolian, and along with Bjorn helped drag Russ to safety after his wounding by Horus. As Horus and his forces were closing in on their escape, Grimnir appeared to sacrifice himself to buy enough time for Bjorn to escape with Russ. However, he would survive the battle through unknown means and escape to the Hrafnkel alongside the remnants of the legion.[3]
