Grizzlepit Convicts
The Grizzlepit Convicts are a Genestealer Cult that promises to bring liberation to those imprisoned on the Imperium's Penal Worlds.[1]
History
Though it is now active on many Imperial worlds in the Reductus Sector, the Grizzlepit were created on the Penal World Damnathor V. The Genestealer Cult's name came from the mining labour some convicts had to endure there and it was able to infect generations of Damnathor's population due to the Sector not having a need for Penal Legions. When Hive Fleet Leviathan invaded the Reductus Sector though, the Imperium began the Stratos Campaign to combat the Tyranids. The Sector's garrisons also focused on the threat, but Damnathor V's doom came when the Hive Fleet neared it. The Tyranids approach caused the Grizzlepit Convicts to begin a rebellion on the Penal World and they were able to overthrow Damnathor's wardens. The Genestealer Cult then sent its forces to infect nearby worlds and other Penal Worlds within the Reductus Sector. There they continued to spread the Grizzlepit's promise of liberation to those imprisoned by the Imperium. Thus while Damnathor was later consumed by Hive Fleet Leviathan, the Grizzlepit Convicts have continued to survive on other worlds.[1]
