Overview
The Harbingers' Homeworld is the Feral World Birmingham "the Black Planet", and their Chapter Master is Nimrod Grudge. They specialise in boarding actions and planetary drop assaults, for which the Chapter has become highly respected.[6]
Notable Campaigns and Engagements
- In the Gothic sector, the chapter's battle barge, the Unrelenting Fury, intercepted the Ork-controlled space hulk Scylla and delivered a series of punishing salvos against it. The Unrelenting Fury suffered severe engine damage from repeated attack-craft attacks but was otherwise unharmed.[3]
- The entire Chapter takes part in the War for the Khaldun Sector, in late M41.[8]
- The Harbingers fought alongside the Dark Angels against the combined forces of Ork warlords Ghazghkull and Nazdreg. The fiercest fighting was at the Dark Angels' basilica.[2]
- 997.M41 — Unconfirmed reports stated that Harbingers fought along the Dark Angels during the Battle of Piscina IV[4]
- Due to the 13th Black Crusade, the Harbingers withdrew from their battle with the Orks of the Piscian Belt and contributed eight companies to fight against the forces of Chaos.[1] They were led by their Chapter Master, Nimrod Grudge, who had the Harbingers act as a highly mobile force. This allowed them to mount lightning counter-attacks against any gains the forces of Chaos made during the 13th Black Crusade.[6]
Heraldry
The Harbingers' wear blue and yellow power armour - blue for the torso, helmet, backpack and pauldron rims, yellow for the legs, arms and pauldrons themselves. A Marine's company is shown by the colour of their armour's imperialis.[5]
Trivia
- The Harbingers were created by the Games Workshop employee Pete Haines, who named them the Harbinger Chapter in White Dwarf 299 (UK). Haines also wrote that the Chapter recruited its Aspirants from their Homeworld's Hives, though it is not known if this is still true.[7]
