Heimdel Crusade

Warrior and heraldry of the Heimdel Crusade[2]

The Heimdel Crusade is a Black Templars Crusade that is led by Marshal Gheidon. It currently serves within Indomitus Crusade Fleet Secundus' Battle Group Erastus.[1]

History

When the muster for the Indomitus Crusade began, the Heimdel Crusade was among the Imperial forces that became part of Fleet Secundus. It was a welcome addition, as at that time Heimdel consisted of a Battle Barge and four Strike Cruisers transporting no fewer than five Fighting Companies and over a hundred and fifty Battle Tanks. The Black Templars' open faith in the God-Emperor was also welcomed, as Fleet Secundus contained a large number of forces from the Sisters of Battle and zealous Astra Militarum Regiments. The Heimdel Crusade's mere presence was seen as a blessing from the Emperor to them and at least one squad was requested to join every single Battle Group within Fleet Secundus. Marshal Gheidon personally assigned a full squad of his Sword Brethren to act as an Honour Guard to Secundus' Fleetmaster, Rasmatin Olythaddeus Samil. The majority of the Marshal's Crusade, however, would serve together in Battle Group Erastus.[1]

As Indomitus Crusade Fleet Secundus launched, its mission was to strike at the Eye of Terror itself. The Indomitus Crusade's high command thought that such a brazen challenge could not be ignored by the forces of Chaos. It was hoped that Fleet Secundus would draw them away from other, more strategically crucial war zones. This would also allow Fleets Primus, Tertius, Quartus, Quintus and Sextus the opportunity to reclaim the Imperium Sanctus.[1] During the campaign near the Eye of Terror, Gheidon laid siege to an Iron Warriors forge-moon.[2]

The Heimdel Crusade is renowned for its heavy use of battle tanks and the ferocity of their zeal. They prove to be a titanic inspiration to other Imperial forces they fight alongside.[2]
