In late M41, Rogen and his team were sent to Kanak, to determine how the Atun Dynasty's slumbering Necron forces on the world awakened. While the Xenos were soon defeated by the Space Wolves Great Company of Ragnar Blackmane[1b], who were already there combating the Host of the Dark Apostle Oriax[1a], the Space Marines were not forthcoming as to how they defeated the Necrons. From what Rogen could gather, a Space Wolf named Valgard Twice-Slain led his Company's forces into the underground temple, where the Atun Dynasty's Lord of Kanak dwelled. According to the Wolf Priest Karl, they defeated the Necron Lord, but Valgard and most of his forces were slain in the battle. Afterwards the Lord fled with its forces into a nearby Dolmen Gate, before the Xenos could be destroyed. However, Rogen was able to confirm that Valgard's gene-seed was not recovered, leaving the Inquisitor to assume that the Space Wolf likely entered the Gate in pursuit of the Necron Lord. When he finished gathering his evidence, the Inquisitor later presented his report of Kanak's Necrons to the Thracian Primaris Inquisitorial Conclave. After relaying what had likely occurred in the battle, Rogen claimed it was noteworthy that the Space Wolves had concealed that Valgard (and maybe even others) had entered the Dolmen Gate. While the Conclave could only guess as to why they had done this, the Inquisitor stated that they have to presume that Valgard is still alive within the Atun Dynasty's territory. If this was true, then there was also a chance that Valgard could return to his Chapter with data he discovered there. Should that occur, Rogen declared that the Ordo Xenos could not be sure that the Space Wolves would not use it against the Imperium. However, the Inquisitor implored the Conclave not to strike out at the Chapter because of this. Instead, Rogen recommended that the Conclave merely wait and keep an eye on Ragnar Blackmane's Great Company from now on.[1b]
