The Heraclitus is a biological growth acceleration strain developed by Magos Szalin of the Ordo Biologis, named after and based upon a surviving fragment of research conducted by Magos Heraclitus.[1]

Description

Originally designed to increase the productivity of Agri Worlds a thousand times by increasing the growth rates of crops, the Heraclitus was stolen by Iron Warriors under the command of Honsou from a research facility on Golbaso and used as an improvised if slow method of planetary devastation.[1]

History

The Heraclitus was deployed on the world of Tarsis Ultra, where its inhabitants were still fighting the vegetative remnants of a Tyranid invasion. Delivered via orbital torpedoes, the strain was released into the planetary atmosphere and reacted with the alien organisms covering the planet, hyper-accelerating their growth. Plant-life expanded kilometres in seconds, nutrients and oxygen were rapidly depleted, the planetary protective layer was stripped away and the world's temperature rose in a matter of moments. Finally, after weeks, the last remnant of the atmosphere was stripped away, leaving nothing alive. Even the Tyranid vegetation died months afterwards, being exposed to lethal doses of radiation. Tarsis Ultra was left a lifeless ball of rock with only the blackened, skeletal remain of cities testament to prior human inhabitation.[1]
