Honorius (Warmaster)
Honorius was an Imperial Lord Militant and later on the Warmaster of the Ophidian Campaign.[1a]
Before embarking on the Ophidian Campaign, Lord Militant Honorius was responsible for pacifying the Helican Schism, a mass uprising in the Helican Subsector.[1a] The pacification efforts took eight months[2] and, to Honorius' great displeasure, heavily delayed the start of the Ophidian Campaign.[1a]
After the conclusion of the successful Ophidian Campaign, Honorius was to be given the title of Feudal Protector by the Imperial Lord Commander Helican Jeromya Faurlitz IV for his achievements during the campaign. Honorius' success made him a prime candidate to succeed the late Warmaster Hiju on the Acrotara theatre. Warmaster Hiju had been groomed for a spot in the Senatorum Imperialis and perhaps even to sit amongst the High Lords of Terra. In succeeding Hiju, Honorius could have become a notable candidate for the spot as well.[1b]
On Thracian Primaris during the victory parade of the Ophidian Campaign[1e] and the bestowment of Honorius' new title as the Feudal Protector[1a], the parade was attacked by the forces of Chaos.[1e] Honorius' forces had captured thirty-three heretic psykers of level alpha or above at Dolsene during the final engagement of the Ophidian Campaign.[1c] These imprisoned psykers were on display at the parade. Honorius took great delight in displaying his dangerous, now seemingly harmaless enemies to the cheering populace. Despite the heavy security measures around the psykers[1d], the attack managed to set them free and let them cause havok on a catastrophic scale.[1e] This event would later on be known as the Thracian Atrocity.[1h] Warmaster Honorius was heavily injured in the attack and required immediate emergency surgery. He was transported to a medical frigate at the navy-yard where he received medical treatment.[1f] On the sixth day of the resulting unrest, it was announced that the Warmaster would live.[1g]
