House Gibrahan is a Rogue Trader House.[1a]

History

Though its origins are lost to time, it is believed that House Gibrahan is at least five thousand years old. It currently has been able to extend its influence through multiple sectors and has gathered a substantial commerce fleet. The House has also built up significant military assets, which according to official records includes several light cruisers, transports, at least one Leman Russ Battle Tank battalion and a sizeable army that numbers over five hundred armsmen. It is also possible, though, that House Gibrahan has further assets that they have not disclosed to Imperial authorities.[1a]

The House is currently active in the Calixis Sector, with most of their focus being in the region known as the Spinward Front. This is what led Gibrahan to scout the Colony Death World Skrynne for possible resources in late M41 and what led its mining expedition to discover vast promethium reserves beneath the world's surface. They were so vast in fact, that the reserves could fuel the Calixis Sector's core worlds for the next century. Unfortunately, Skrynne had once been an Ork World and, though the Xenos had been purged, their spores allowed new generations of Orks to plague the world. Normally Skrynne's PDF, the Skrynne-guard, were able to destroy any hordes that arose, due to the world's poor mineral reserves preventing the Xenos from creating many advanced weapons or vehicles. Unbeknownst to everyone, though, a sizable Ork horde had been able to grow unnoticed, until it attacked House Gibrahan's mining expedition. Only one member was able to escape and bring word of the horde's existence. This led the Rogue Trader House to work with Skrynne's PDF in attacking the horde and destroyed most of the Orks. While the dregs were being hunted down, House Gibrahan began the final negotiations with Skrynne's Planetary Governor to secure the mining and distribution of its promethium. Before the deal was completed, though, an armada of Waaagh! Grimtoof led by Warboss Grimmsnikk Tufgob suddenly attacked the world. This was in response to receiving a message from Skrynne's Orks, about the Imperial world, that the Xenos had somehow managed to send off into space.[1a]

The surprise attack led House Gibrahan to flee the Skrynne System, but it sought to return with help in order to secure its investment in the world. It would plead with Calixis Sector's Departmento Munitorum High Command for military assistance in saving Skrynne from the Orks, with the House member Captain Jacoby Hollander being primarily in charge of the effort. The Departmento ultimately agreed to divert the 4th Brontian Longknives Regiment to Skrynne, after House Gibrahan gave it a large portion of the world's Promethium reserves for the Imperium's war effort in the Spinward Front. Six months later, the Longknives were fighting Warboss Tufgob's Ork hordes, alongside House Gibrahan's forces of one Leman Russ Battle Tank battalion and five hundred of the House's armsmen, overseen by Captain Hollander. Even with this might, though, the war against the Orks has ground on for years, with both sides suffering great losses. Hollander and the Longknives have made constant requests for additional reinforcements over the years, but they were repeatedly denied any further aid. It was not until the seventh year of warfare on Skrynne that an additional Astra Militarum Regiment[1a] and a detachment of Stormtroopers[1b] were finally sent to the world. Yet these fresh reinforcements still left the Rogue Trader House and Astra Militarum forces outnumbered by Warboss Tufgob's Orks.[1a]

While House Gibrahan has fought to save Skrynne throughout these long years, some Imperials have questioned why it has continued to do so. The war against the Orks has cost the Rogue Trader House substantial losses in manpower and a fortune in lost trade, due to several of its vessels aiding in the effort. Many suspect that House Gibrahan will most likely make a substantial repayment from Skrynne's promethium trade, once the war is over or that the Rogue Trader House has discovered something else of interest on the world. The truth is only known to House Gibrahan, but some of the Brontian Guardsmen have disparagingly suggested that their regiment is only fighting to bring greater financial success to the Rogue Trader House.[1a]
