Hrom is a rough and inhospitable feral world with extreme gravity, fungal swamps, and dense mountain ranges. It is located in the Gorian System of the Macharian Sector. It is home to tribes of Ogryns who have served as shock troops in the Astra Militarum since the Macharian Crusade.[1]
History
The early history of Hrom is largely unknown, preserved only in the oral traditions of its Ogryn tribes. Administratum records, gathered from dealings with the locals, suggest that the planet may have been used as a penal colony long before the Great Crusade. Frequent Warp storms across the Yix Sub-sector cut Hrom off from wider contact, leaving only fragmented Ogryn tales of the "Afore-days".[1]
The Macharian Crusade brought Hrom into the Imperium, discovering in its Ogryns a valuable pool of recruits. The Ogryns of Hrom became a mainstay of Astra Militarum shock forces, particularly valued for their immense strength and loyalty.[1]
During the Noctis Aeterna, Hrom would likely have passed unnoticed if not for a misdirected fleet of Chaos raiders. Their attack, however, was repulsed with relative ease, and their numbers remain few and scattered.[1]
Culture
Hrom’s society revolves around Ogryn tribal structures, with traditions carried through oral history. Loyalty, physical might, and kinship ties dominate their cultural fabric. Despite their primitive ways, the Ogryns have proven receptive to Imperial faith when missionaries are present, though their understanding is often limited and literal.[1]
Notable Figures
- Gruk the Bull – A massive exemplar of Ogryn strength, Gruk is unusual among his kind for his fascination with the Imperial Cult. Initially reluctant to join the Imperial Guard, he was ultimately swayed by the sermons of Missionary Sanctimus Johov. Gruk now serves as Johov’s personal bodyguard, accompanying him across Hrom. Though Johov doubts Gruk fully grasps his teachings, his presence has drawn greater attention from the Ogryn population to the Imperial Creed.[1]
