The Hunt For Bile was an early battle of the Salamanders Chapter during the Great Scouring.[1]

Overview

Taking place shortly after the Horus Heresy, the campaign began when Vulkan learned of the horrors committed by Fabius Bile on Terra's civilian population during the Siege of Terra. Demanding justice, Vulkan ordered Bile be hunted down. They ultimately tracked Bile to the way-station of Deltos 4 Corporis in the Gellden Sector. Led by Captain Fal'vek, the Salamanders assaulted the station with Boarding Craft, intending to capture the structure intact in order to collect intelligence if Bile was not found aboard. Inside, the Salamanders found themselves assailed by Dark Mechanicum Skitarii and Servitors. After vicious close-quarters fighting, the Salamanders boarding teams converged on the power core of the station, setting up teleportation homers which allowed for the deployment of Firedrake Terminators. They met a bloated traitor Magos attempting to initiate a self-destruct, gunning him down before his work could be completed. Aboard the station's computers, they discovered Bile was on the rebellious world of Arden IX.[1]

Bile was conducting his fell experiments on Arden IX's industrial plaza, at the heart of which rested the traitorous Planetary Governor Tyrell. The world was guarded not only by the Governor's terrified or corrupted PDF, but also specialized warriors Bile had brought with him. Vulkan himself led the assault on Arden IX, making an unstoppable two-pronged advance, with the Primarch himself and his Firedrakes retinue assailing the Governor's Palace. Meanwhile, other Salamanders forces cleared the districts of the industrial plaza, battling through Bile's horrific Enhanced Warriors. Bile himself was spotted on the battlefield, fighting with an unnatural strength fueled by his drugs and enhancements. Vulkan led a final charge through the Enhanced Warriors as Bile fled to a hidden ship. Salamanders ships in orbit were able to damage Bile's ship, but it was ultimately able to escape into the Warp.[1][2] Regardless, Bile's flesh refineries and cloning vats on Arden IX were all burned in a single night.[2]
