Ikkyo is a small Imperial sub-tropical Forest World of tall trees, that is part of Ultramar and lies at the very edge of its domain.[1]
History
During the Second Tyrannic War, Ikkyo contained an Imperial colony and was in the projected path of both Hive Fleet Kraken and the Asuryani Craftworld Iyanden. When it became apparent that the world would be invaded by the Tyranids, the Ultramarines dispatched a small detachment of its 4th Company, led by one of its Captains, to aid Ikkyo's Astra Militarum PDF in preparing for the attack. However, the news of the invasion caused panic to spread amongst the population and this led to widespread looting and arson to break out in Ikkyo's only city. Because of this, by the time Hive Fleet Kraken launched its invasion during a monsoon and began attacking the city, many of its buildings had already been burned down.[1]
Despite this panic, though, Ikkyo's defenders had used their time to create makeshift barricades and fortifications around the city, as well as making killing fields for the 4th Company's Devastator Squads. Though these measures defeated the Tyranids' initial attacks, the Hive Fleet's Dominatrix commander, began gathering Kraken's might for an attack that would finally overwhelm Ikkyo's defenders. Once they realized what was happening, the Ultramarines and PDF knew they had no chance at victory. Instead, they prepared to sell their lives dearly against the Hive Fleet and prayed they would receive swift deaths. The Imperium was unaware though, that Ikkyo had originally been an Aeldari Maiden World, before it was colonized and this led the Asuryani Craftworld Iyanden to intervene in order to save the world, which they believed belonged to them. Iyanden's forces suddenly appeared out of nowhere to lance the gathering Tyranids and also began reinforcing the positions of the Ultramarines and PDF. By the time the Dominatrix launched the Hive Fleet's attack, Ikkyo's Imperial and Asuryani defenders were ready for the Tyranids and were able to defeat the invaders. Though piles of dead bodies surrounded the city afterwards, the Imperium and Iyanden's efforts had saved the world from Hive Fleet Kraken.[1]
