Impedicus
Impedicus was a Kastelan-class robot of the First Maniple of the Daedarii Reserve Cohort serving during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy. It was under the command of Magos Dominus Octal Bool.[1]
History
Thirty years before the Schism of Mars impedicus was put into stasis after its master Octal Bool was convicted as a heretek after conspiring with the Tabula Myriad.[1]
During the schism, Impedicus and the rest of the Daedarii Reserve were freed from stasis by the Knight-Errant known as the Carrion alongside its master Octal Bool and the Tabula Myriad. Impedicus joined Octal Bool and the Carrion on a mission to destroy the Vertex Australis. During this mission it came to light that Impedicus had been modified by the Tabula Myriad into a seemingly thinking machine and abominable intelligence. At the end of the mission Impedicus fought alongside the Carrion and the other members of the First Maniple against the corrupted Iron Warrior Aulus Scaramanca. After Scaramanca destroyed the rest of the First Maniple and the Tabula Myriad, Impedicus displayed a remarkable sense of self-preservation. It outwitted Scaramanca by superheating its armour to escape the Iron Warrior's magnetic pull and retreated.[1]
Impedicus was the only survivor of the mission to destroy the Vertex Australis.[1]
Impedicus was later found by a rebel party led by Princeps Kallistra Lennox alongside Len Four-of-Twelve, a survivor from a destroyed rebel base. Impedicus was taken back to the rebel base in the dead zone to be inspected for corruption. While there the forces of the Dark Mechanicum had approached the dead zone and it was suspected by the rebel command that Impedicus was a spy for the Dark Mechanicum. Lexorcist Ramann Synk then realized that Impedicus was carrying the Tabula Myriad.[2]
Impedicus came into action and attacked Len Four-of-Twelve, revealing to the rebels that it was Len that was the spy, not it. Lennox and Synk decided that the Tabula Myriad was the lesser of two evils and made an alliance with Impedicus against the Dark Mechanicum. Impedicus then assisted the rebels in securing a titan for Lennox to pilot, before revealing a plan to take back Mars.[2]
