In Blackest Night: The Millennial Wars Appraised is an Imperial historical publication written in 127.M42 by historian Ayjaepi Clothier during the Era Indomitus. From the excerpts we are provided with, it would appear to cover the events of the 13th Black Crusade and the 4th Tyrannic War. A "modest chapter" of it would be devoted to the events of the Second Siege of Perlia and the involvement of Commissar Ciaphas Cain.^[1a]

Specific excerpts and quotations from the book would be used by Inquisitor Amberly Vail to add some historical context when annotating Ciaphas' memoirs^{[1a][1b][1c][1d][1e]} and she considered the work as a "dispassionate and authoritative source."^[1b]
