Julius Zenobi is an Epistolary of the Angels of Wrath Chapter.

Biography

During the Age of Apostasy he was assigned to the Tenth Company[1d], when a large Imperial warfleet appeared above their homeworld. Angered that Tristan Dare, the Chapter's Grand Master, had refused his demand to replace their Chaplains with Ecclesiarchy missionaries, Goge Vandire had ordered the Frateris Templars to destroy the Chapter. The Frateris attacked in overwhelming numbers and soon ninety percent of the Chapter had fallen to the zealots. With the Angels of Wrath's destruction almost complete, Captain Cornelius Makallan, of the Tenth Company and the last commanding officer of the Chapter, gave the order to retreat.[1a] Zenobi was one of the few survivors, who fought their way through the Frateris and evacuated to their last remaining vessel in space, which soon escaped into the Warp.[1c]

After a year in the Warp, their ship emerged near the Death World Megiddio Primus. Makallan was soon contacted by Megiddio Primus' Planetary Governor, Ezbesde Konnar, from the planet's only settlement, the Metroplex. Soon learning that they had a common foe in the Ecclesiarchy, Konnar requested their help in removing the vice-like grip the Church had on his own world. Believing that Goge and the Ecclesiarchy's tyranny was still at hand, Makallan and the Chapter readily agreed and began making preparations to secretly land on the Metroplex, unaware that they had emerged four thousand years after their jump into the Warp and Goge had long ago been killed.[1c]

The remnants of the Chapter began to call themselves Covert X and began a seven-month underground guerilla campaign to weaken the hold of the Eccisiarchy on Megiddio Primus[1c], in which Zenobi would play an instrumental part. An expert orator[1d], Zenobi began to preach against the evils of the Church and explained to the large crowds how they were killing the Emperor. Though the Metroplex's Adeptus Arbites would soon arrive after he began speaking, to put down any hints of rebellion; Zenobi would escape and begin the process again elsewhere.[1b] Soon the population began to riot against the Church and the Arbites were stretched thin, trying to regain order.[1e]

With the Cathedral, the Eccisiarchy's stronghold on the planet, undefended Makallan ordered his forces to attack, which Zenobi took part in. As they began the attack, however, they were ambushed by a large force of the Adepta Sororitas sent by the Church, who had learned of the Chapter's plans. Though they now found themselves outnumbered, Makallan refused to give the order to retreat and ordered Zenobi and the rest of the Chapter to attack the servants of their hated enemies.[1e]
