The Koronus Fragments are a number of apocryphal documents that detail the existence of the Koronus Expanse, before it was officially discovered.[1]

History

They are the degraded and incomplete logs of an unknown Adeptus Mechanicus Explorator Fleet, that were located on Wykthorne Prime. From what can be gathered from them, the Fleet claimed to have discovered a stable passage through the Warp Storms at the edge of the Calixis Sector. The few complete sections of the Koronus Fragments marked dozens of mineral-rich or life-supporting worlds, along with other areas to be later explored. However the Fragments lacked any concrete data on how to reach this zone, rendering the information effectively useless.[1]

In 101.M38, the Koronus Fragments were discovered in the Segmentum Obscuras Naval records on Wykthorne Prime. This was as the Angevin Crusade was being prepared to bring into Compliance, the area that would become the Calixis Sector. Despite the Fragments' lack of concrete data, they were added to the Crusade's records of the future Sector's area. During the Crusade, they would breed the legend of a vast untouched spatial zone littered with (oft-overstated) riches. These were claimed to be just beyond the reach of the numerous Rogue Trader vessels attached to the Angevin Crusade's efforts.[1]
