Kritias Secundus is a satellite of the Gas Giant Kritias (Pireaus VII), located in the Maelstrom Zone. It played an important role during the events of the Badab War.[1]

Planetary Details

  • Class :: Type-IV semi-inhabitable moon
  • Mass: .6 T
  • Rotation: 22.3 standard hours
  • Gravity: 0.87G

Climate - Geography - Biosphere

The astmosphere is poor in oxygen and rich in carbon monoxide, meaning human life cannot exist without artificial aids. However presence of subsurface water table makes habitation viable with sufficient infrastructure. Extensive native non-Terran pseudo plant-life is present, particularly in fast-growing, highly invasive coral like tree structures, which cover most of the surface in "forests". Indigenous flora can be made edible with treatment, providing abundant foodstuffs.[1]

Government

Formaly Oratory of Guilds and secessionist appointed governor-general during the Badab War.[1]

Mechanicum

Extinguished under secessionist control during the Badab War. Formerly minor, including Adeptus Mechanicus tech-chantry House. Imperial navy tertiary shipyard provender and garrison company (Maelstrom squadron detachment).[1]

Military

Before the war, the moon maintained a small void-capable planetary defence force. Latterly, a Tyrant's legion garrison (extent unknown).[1]

Trade - Economy

Human colonial habitation on the moon has been in operation since at least M.34. and may in fact predate the colonisation of the more readily inhabitable planet Pireaus V. Extant reasons for this are the moon's use as a base for sustained gas mining efforts of its principal sphere, and numerous exotic trace elements found in surface stata of the planetoid itself.[1]
Since the advent of the Maelstrom Warders control of the region, existing orbital construction and shipyard facilities (small scale but of ancient provenance) were co-opted from native control and turned over to the use of the Maelstrom Squadron as a secondary replenishment and supply base.[1]
