Krootor

Krootor are an evolutionary dead-end of Kroot native to the swampy planet of Asphodel.^[1]

Krootor descend from Kroot who consumed aquatic reptilian predators and incorporated their genes into themselves. They are large and quadrupedal, with short legs ending in hooked claws, thick tails, and wide, slow-slung bodies. A Krootor's mouth resembles a longer, wider version of the Kroot's avian beak, and is filled with serrated teeth laced with poison. Creatures bitten by a Krootor either die quickly from the terrible wounds inflicted or succumb later to the venom.^[1]

Krootor are chiefly aquatic, and spend most of their time swimming silently. When they need to go on land, however, they are capable of surprising speed. Krootor are chiefly ambush predators, bursting from the waters of the swamp to overwhelm prey with savage bites.^[1]

Some of Asphodel's more vicious Kroot use Krootor instead of Kroot Hounds, as they find the aquatic predators' savagery and stealth to be preferable to the Hounds' keen senses and intelligence.^[1]
