The planet is notable for being a hub for the Van Skorvold Cartel, a merchant clan that specialised in human trafficking across the Geryon Subsector. The cartel maintained a star fort in orbit of Lakonia as their headquarters, which was assaulted by the Space Marines of the Soul Drinkers Chapter.[1a]
