Land Carrier
The Land Carrier,[1] also known as the Mass Carrier,[4] or by its Chaos-given name of Aerie,[3c] is a massive aircraft-carrying vehicle used by the forces of Chaos, notably during the Sabbat Worlds Crusade.[1]
Description
The Land Carrier is a full kilometre[3a] or nearly two kilometres long[4] and is armed with hundreds of anti aircraft batteries shooting flak bursts and rockets[3c] and propelled by a hundred wheels, each of which is five-metres in diameter.[3a] It is coloured bronze and features a burnished deck and raised ramps.[3c] The Land Carrier is equipped with Modar and Auspex systems[3b] and is armoured in adamantium and steel.[4]
The Land Carrier is mobile, making it hard to track and destroy from orbit. It can carry and deploy fighter aircrafts[2] like the Hell Razor Interceptors,[3a] Hell Talons and Locusts[3c] as well as Stoop-Bombers.[2] It can launch at least twenty aircrafts nearly simultaneously.[3a]
Aircrafts are placed into launch cradles and, when ready, launched by ion catapults.[3a] Landing is accomplished with the help of arrestor runs.[3c]
