Laudren Thalarn

Laudren Thalarn is a Sorcerer Lord, formerly of the Thousand Sons, who commands the Brothers of Retaliation Warband.[1a]
History
He took part in the Great Crusade and became a mighty Chaplain in the aftermath of the Decree of Nikaea. When the Thousand Sons' Primarch, Magnus, later discovered Warmaster Horus' treachery, Thalarn convinced many others in his Legion that the Emperor needed to be warned. However, it was difficult for him to comprehend how Magnus' efforts to do so led to the Thousand Sons' homeworld, Prospero, being invaded by the Imperium. Thalarn survived the invasion, though, and afterwards, he reluctantly followed his Primarch and the remaining Thousand Sons in joining with Horus' traitorous forces during the Horus Heresy.[1a]
Thalarn survived the Heresy and was among the Thousand Sons who joined their now-Daemon Primarch, Magnus, on the Planet of Sorcerers. However, he became extremely bitter about the state of his Legion, as many had become hideously mutated and Magnus had become fully corrupted by Chaos. Thalarn now saw the Thousand Sons as honourless scum, who fought for their mere existence. He blamed their fate on the Imperium and vowed to never forgive nor forget how his Legion had been betrayed and humiliated.[1a]
A thousand years after the Horus Heresy ended, Thalarn fled from the Planet of Sorcerers with hundreds of brothers who were loyal to him. They then conquered a Crone World and built the Black Cathedral, which became their base of operations. Once that was done, Thalarn's followers then began recruiting other Chaos forces to join them. Decades later, he became a powerful Sorcerer Lord and named his vast Warband the Brothers of Retaliation. With the numerous forces Thalarn now had at his command, including the High Sorcerer Lord Baal, Thalarn decided it was finally time to claim his vengeance against the Imperium.[1a]
