The Legio Gladius was a Titan Legion based on Diamat that fought for the Imperium during the Great Crusade.
When the Horus Heresy broke out the Legion was attached to the 27th Expedition Fleet far to the galactic south on the orders of Warmaster Horus. This left their homeworld open to attack by Horus' forces.[1]
