The Lords of Pain were once a loyal Space Marine Chapter, until they fell to heresy in the aftermath of the Great Rift's creation during the 13th Black Crusade. They then turned upon the Imperium and later clashed with Lord Commander Roboute Guilliman and his Indomitus Crusade.[1]
