Lukius is a War World of the Severan Dominate, located in The Periphery in the Calixis Sector. Lukius represents the boundary across which Severus has sworn the Orks will not advance. It serves as the primary battleground in the Dominate’s war against Waaagh! Grimtoof, absorbing the bulk of its military focus and resources.[1]

Lukius lies on a critical trunk of the Calixis-Scarus Warp conduit, situated beyond the main reach of the Imperium’s conventional military forces. Its remote location renders it largely unknown to even the higher echelons of the Imperium’s command.[1]

Native Population

The human population of Lukius lived as primitive, tribal societies for millennia. With the rise of the Severan Dominate, these inhabitants were forcibly conscripted into service. Once iron-age barbarian tribes, they have been rapidly and brutally integrated into the Dominate’s military structure.[1]

These conscripts are equipped with crude weaponry and mass-produced autoguns, and clad in ill-fitting, makeshift uniforms. Many have suffered combat psychosis due to the extreme nature of their transformation and exposure to war. Some Lukians have embraced the violence, becoming indistinguishable from Ork opponents in their savagery. It is rumoured that some native Lukians have adopted Ork warlike behavior so thoroughly that they are occasionally mistaken for actual Orks by Imperial forces.[1]

Warfare and Logistics

While Lukius' native population comprises much of the frontline manpower, the Dominate also deploys forces drawn from across Severus’ realm. Troops are shipped to the continent-sized battle zones, frequently arriving only days or even hours before deployment. However, the Dominate’s ability to sustain such a campaign is severely limited. The world lacks adequate infrastructure from the Departmento Munitorum era, causing severe logistical breakdowns. Munitions shortages are common, with troops frequently rotating between heavily armed assaults and periods of near-total deprivation.[1]

Tight phalanxes of tanks and Knight walkers are occasionally deployed, but these forces often suffer from irregular support. Some troops have resorted to salvaging Ork vehicles and weapons for continued use.[1]

The Bonegnashers were the first Kroot to become involved in the wars in the Spinward Front after being enlisted by the Severan Dominate to help in the grinding conflict on Lukius against Waaagh! Grimtoof. The Bonegnashers' Warsphere appeared in orbit around Lukius and shot down several Kroozers on its way to the planet, before descending to the planet's surface and disgorging its troops. Once on-planet, the Bonegnashers' experience in fighting the greenskins allowed them to anticipate the Orks' mad assaults and draw them into ambushes that cost them significantly. In turn, the Orks had become used to fighting the disorganised native militias and were unprepared for facing cunning, disciplined hunters.[2]
