The Luther Pattern Excavation Automata or Ambot is a heavy mining construct made by cybernetically enhancing an Ambull until almost no organic matter remains. Its central nervous system is derived from the xenos creature, giving it an instinct for tunneling, but it is fitted with cortical limiters that prevent it from escaping and running amok.[1b]

Overview

Ambots are built by a process perfected by the Adeptus Mechanicus. A native Ambull is captured and then reworked and heavily cybernetically augmented. When the creature awakens in its new robotic shell, it retains its natural tunneling instincts while having its aggression suppressed by cranial governors. The biological core of the creature circumvents Mechanicum laws regarding bans on Artificial Intelligence. Ambots are employed for mining and ash excavation on Necromunda.[1b]

Scrapcode-Corrupted Ambots

Some Ambots are driven mad by Scrap-Code, a tech-virus. On Necromunda, mining automata often fall victim to this corruption by Hereteks or tech-traitors, becoming abominations of iron and wires with deadly mining claws. These corrupted machines, known as Scrapcode-corrupted Ambots, are highly dangerous and coveted by outlaw gangs for their combat prowess.[2]
