Lykaar is an Imperium Ice World that possesses promethium wells beneath its surface.[1]
In M41 the world was invaded and conquered by Orks, who enslaved its population and began taking Lykaar's promethium for themselves. The Orks' hold on the world soon ended, however, when the Great Company of the Wolf Lord Grìmhildr Skanefeld and a strike force from the Salamanders Chapter came to Lykaar's aid. Though the Space Marines were vastly outnumbered, they fought well together and defeated the Orks, freeing Lykaar's enslaved population.[1]
