Thule is put into orbit around the shipyards of Jupiter.[1]
Powerful warp storms suddenly appear throughout the galaxy, making Warp travel all but impossible. Terra and its colonies are isolated from each other, destroying their interdependence. Worlds that relied on outside supplies suffer periods of anarchy and civil war, some even regressing to pre-industrial levels of technology. Standard Template Construct technology is largely lost. Hostile xenos such as the Orks begin to raid the now-vulnerable colonies. The isolation leads to divergent evolution of abhumans and psykers. Weak and inexperienced psykers suffer from daemonic possession, causing even more chaos and destruction. The Dark Age of Technology ends and the Age of Strife begins.[2][3][4][5]
M25 The Horiax Treatise mentions gene altering techniques roughly around M25.[6] The Horiax Treatise records bio-alchemy and cyber-augments resulting in "super" soldiers being used in the wars of Ancient Earth as far back as M25. Since then many gene-breeds, war-wights and ironsides are noted in Old Earth's history as techno-barbarian tribes and city-states of Old Earth waged war unabated amongst each other for thousands of years.[7]
M25-M30 The core of the Eldar Empire's society becomes infected by spiritual malaise. Some Eldar have mixed feelings about this, while others (such as the Haemonculus Covens) are utterly unrepentant. The lines between unbridled experience and outright evil are blurred. The more puritanical Eldar, horrified by the degeneration of their society, flee their home worlds in an attempt to escape immanent catastrophe.[8]
M25-M30 With the emergence of warp storms across the galaxy, Bloodthirsters led Khorne's Blood Legions across numerous worlds. The many fractured and fallen worlds of Mankind are set upon by the Chaos Gods. Humanity uses its numerous esoteric weapons of mass destruction on each other as infighting of human empires increased in ferocity.[9]
