Mancora is a Knight World and the Homeworld of House Trainor.^[3] It is also the Homeworld of the Howling Griffons Space Marine Chapter, serving as both their primary recruiting world^[1] and the location of their Fortress-Monastery, The Proud Eyrie.^[4]

The planet has been kept as an active pre-industrialised world with a near constant state of war between feudal areas and city-states in order to maintain a heavy martial focus to the world and provide a strong base for Chapter recruitment.^[2]

Mancora has a higher-than-average birth rate of Psykers, which is carefully policed by the Howling Griffons and has led to them having a higher number of powerful battle-psykers within their ranks.^[2]
