Mauvec Kawe
Sir Mauvec Kawe was a Knight of Dominion, who piloted the Knight Gallant Typhoon's Teeth.[1a]
Biography
Dominion hosted two Knightly Houses (Rau and Stryder)[1b]; Kawe, however, was officially a member of neither House - instead he was on The Lists[1g], those who were in line to the throne of Dominion.[1b][1e]
In one of Dominion's summer tournaments, Sir Kawe was challenged to a duel by his fellow Knight and cousin[1g], Sir Linoleus Rakkan.[1a][1g] Rakkan, an Armiger pilot, wanted to claim ownership of Typhoon's Teeth in the hopes that piloting a Questoris-pattern like Typhoon would elevate his social standing. However, Kawe won the duel after he tore the leg off of Rakkan's Knight with Typhoon's Thunderstrike Gauntlet.[1a]
Rakkan left Dominion as an exile some time later to take the oath of the Freeblade.[1c][1d] In the years since Rakkan's departure, Kawe's neutrality began to waver and he started more openly supporting House Stryder, although he never officially pledged himself to Stryder or its leader, Baroness Hawthorn. This was partly so he would not have to endure being under the Baroness's thumb, partly so he could court support from Dominion's other nobles, and partly so that he could continue to place wagers on House Rau's Knights in tournaments.[1g]
Rakkan would end up returning to Dominion as part of a plan by the Officio Assassinorum to murder the High King of Dominion and guide the succession of the world's throne[1d], with the Callidus Assassin Sycorax impersonating Rakkan as he stayed in the Assassins' ship).[1f] Kawe and "Rakkan" reunited at a party that was thrown to honour Rakkan's return. During the function, Kawe told "Rakkan" that he held no hard feelings over the duel - as far as Kawe was concerned, the challenge had been honourable, Rakkan had lost, and that was the end of the matter.[1g]
Later, Bazile Daggar-Kraine ascended to the throne of Dominion as the world's new High King and was corrupted by the hidden scrapcode within his new Knight suit, bringing a number of Dominion's senior Knights with him into damnation. Sir Kawe remained loyal to the Imperium and was among the Loyalist Knights who attempted to kill King Daggar-Kraine and destroy his Knight. However, although Kawe managed to charge Kraine's Knight and land a few hits on it, Kraine's meltaguns blasted Typhoon's Teeth at point-blank range, destroying it and trapping Kawe within its burning cockpit.[1h]
Ultimately, King Daggar-Kraine and his Traitors were defeated. Kawe survived the battle. In the aftermath, Houses Stryder and Rau were reorganised under a pair of new High Monarchs (with Rakkan as High King and Lisille Lycan-Bast as High Queen). Kawe was elevated to the rank of Baron and became the new Master of Judgment within Dominion's Exalted Court. He would go on to lead a contingent of Stryder-Rau's Knights in the Indomitus Crusade.[1i]
