Maximus Karania
Maximus Karania was a Princeps of the Legio Tempestus during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy.[1]
Overview
While Legio master Indias Cavalerio ruled the Tempestus from Mars, Princeps Karania oversaw the Legion's Titans deployed in the Expeditionary Fleets of the Great Crusade. Karania was secretly a practitioner of an ancient machine cult known as the Teleologicalica which was popular on the Forge World of Estaban III, and his loyalities to that world soon eclipsed that of Cavalerio and the Emperor. After Cavalerio was killed in the Schism of Mars, Karania became the acting head of the Legion and named Estaban III as their new rallying point. However his treachery and support for Traitors cause soon became apparent, and few heeded the call. Karania went on to lead the traitor element of the Tempestus.[1]
After the Heresy, Karania devoted himself to hunting down loyalist elements of his own Legio as well as battle his old foe, the Legio Mortis.[2]
