The McCready Cape Research Facility is an Imperial bio-research facility on the Netheria Peninsula of Armageddon.^[1]

Following the Second War for Armageddon, the tech-priests at the facility studied the genetic structure of orkoid life, in an attempt to engineer a virus-laden artificial ork dubbed a "Trojan Ork". Sometime prior to the Third War for Armageddon, however, the test subject escaped and went on a rampage, killing over a hundred personnel before Colonel McCready of the Departmento Munitorum Pioneer Corps incinerated the experiment with a heavy flamer.^[1]

Trivia

The following information is not to be regarded as officially sanctioned and/ or is not written from an in-universe point of view. A detailed explanation of the term "Trivia" as used in the Lexicanum can be found here.

The facility may be a nod to the 1982 John Carpenter film The Thing, which featured a shapeshifting alien being that tried to infiltrate the crew of an Antarctic research outpost (it's also worth pointing out that the main character of the film's name was R.J. MacReady, similar to both the facility and the Colonel).
